Από τη μια το «ματωμένο φεγγάρι» και απο την άλλη η ολική έκλειψη υπερπανσελήνου έκαναν εκατομμύρια ανθρώπους σε όλο τον κόσμο να στρέψουν το κεφάλι τους στον ουρανό προκειμένου να παρακολουθήσουν κάποια φάση του φαινομένου που δεν θα επαναληφθεί πριν το 2033.
Το φαινόμενο της ολικής έκλειψης υπερπανσελήνου αφορά την απόκρυψη του δίσκου της Σελήνης στο μεγαλύτερο δυνατό μέγεθός του. Στην Ελλάδα το φαινόμενο έφτασε στο μέγιστο σημείο του περίπου στις έξι παρά δέκα το πρωί.
